GABON — French photographer Xavier Hubert Brierre travelled to Gabon with his wife and set up a mirror in several locations to capture animals walking by. The results are stunning.

A huge gorilla greets his reflection with massive aggression and violent thrashing at the mirror, while an elephant is captured having a brief look before wandering serenely away.

Despite the long days and attacks by various insects found in the African undergrowth, Xavier says the experience was a thoroughly enjoyable one.

"I had to wash the mirrors on which leopards and monkeys left greasy streaks, traces of blood and faeces left by insects hitting their surface ignoring their reflective property," he said.

"Myself and my wife spent many long days at the site, often being attacked by different types of flies and bees."

Xavier hid cameras in security boxes and set up motion sensors that would trigger the cameras whenever wildlife walked close to the mirrors.

The elephants and gorillas didn"e;t disappoint and provided some truly stunning pictures and videos that any photographer would be proud of.
